He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Economics in 1994. He completed his master’s and doctorate at Ankara University. at Ankara University; He worked as a Research Assistant between 2001-2002, Assistant Professor between 2002-2007, and Associate Professor between 2007-2013. Within the scope of his doctoral studies, he worked as a visiting lecturer on a scholarship at Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management, Department of Accountancy (Cleveland, Ohio). In 2007, he did post-doctoral work on brand valuation at the Max-Planck-Institut für Geistiges Eigentum und Wettbewerbs- und Steuerrecht (Munich).

He worked at the Turkish Accounting and Auditing Standards Board between 1999-2001. He served as a Member of the Board of the Turkish Accounting Standards Board between 2008-2011 and as the Chairman of the Board of the Turkish Accounting Standards Board in 2010. He worked as a Board Member at the Public Oversight, Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority between 2011-2013.
